How Long Will My Pomeranians Long Legs Grow?

My 51/2 month old pomeranian has grown these amazingly long legs. He looks like a gangly teenager…The lady I bought him from did advise me he was not the small breed of pom but he really is looking out of proportion. I am hoping he will grow a beautiful long coat to disguise them. I am just wondering what other pommy owners opinions are.

Sounds you bought a poorly bred Pomeranian. In future I suggest you buy from a reputable breeder who only breeds quality dogs and then you will get what you are looking for.

Your pomeranians legs will stop growing once they reach the ground.

When you say "The lady I bought him from"…do you mean she is a back yard breeder? Well, then, sorry to say, only heaven knows what breed your dog really is, and if it is indeed a full blooded pom.

This is why most everyone that answers questions in here is against BYB’s and puppy mills, simply because there is no guarantee on any of the puppies you get from them.

That being said, if your puppy has not already gotten or started to get a beautiful fluffy coat, then, I much doubt it will. Pom’s are known for their fluffy appearance, not "long" coats; and that’s why their grooming must be an everyday thing and not once a month or so. They have a heavy undercoat, that will matt very easily and through time you will have to get it all shaved off if not groomed facticiously everyday.
Good luck with your new puppy, and love him for ‘who’ he is and not what he might end up being.

He’s not a purebred Pom. Who knows what he was mixed with. You got scammed and I’d be talking to the breeder.
