Is a Pomeranian Dog Good for a 12year Old?

I want a dog and i think pomeranian puppies are cute but people say there hard work to take care of.
Lindsay Down or whatever your name is i don't think a 12 year old would pull a dog's tall its not like there 3 years old.

When you purchase any puppy you are looking into working hard in training . I have four sons and they all wanted there own dog, and let me tell you i had more pups then they did it was fine for the first two weeks then the novelty wore off. They forgot they even had the dogs so they became mine lol.

never had one but all dogs are hard work. their a big responsibilty and a major commitment. its not like having a child where people offer to babysit, you have to arrange your life around them, they cant be left alone for too long. although they are worth it, i dunno what id do without my lab puppy, hes a menace and hard work but hes also very rewarding.

as for a 12 year old, no dog should ever be left alone with a child under 16 regardless of breed, age, size or temperament. a lot of dogs who have been put down for attacking kids have been defending themselves for having their tails pulled etc, and the child doesnt admit to this!

Any dog is good for any one… but not just any one is good for any dog. Consider if the child is an animal lover who will be committed to providing the dog with healthy food, lotsa fun and plenty of love.

    Hello
Pomeranian's are very hard to take care of with grooming, they eat alot and 50% of them are aggressive towards others besides there owner.
i have an English Cocker Spaniel, im 12, hes names Milo i call him Moo for short, he has huge ears and is sooo cute.
i recomend this breed because there inbetween small and medium sized, easy to take care of, so pretty and full of energy and love!.
so this is a very good dog! look it up!

    P.S MILO IS CRAZYYYY

They require a lot of grooming and can be pretty yappy. The barking alone would have me thinking twice about a pom…as a matter of fact I passed up a free purebred pom just last week because of it.

I've owned a pomeranian for the past 9 1/2 years and one before him.
They make great companions, they get along great with children if raised around children however when agitated some do have a tendency to snap at people.
They are notorious yappers and without proper training can annoy the heck out of you (and your neighbors) with their obsessive barking at everything. They are eager to learn, quick to please but if they don't know your boss they can be quite stubborn and choose not to listen.
They require alot of care when it comes to grooming. They have 2 coats an undercoat and an overcoat. They need brushed daily to keep from getting mats and keep their fur healthy, shiny, fluffy and dandruff free. I would take them to a groomer to keep it trimmed.
They are, like most toy breeds, prone to certain health issues.
I would highly highly recommend doing your research about their breed before going out and buying one to insure its something you really want to get into. Look online for information or go to your local bookstore for a breed specific book. I love having them around me, they are beautiful and great lap dogs but they are not for everyone.
